About Us

Mission Statement

The Natchez Art Association is a group of volunteers dedicated in their task of stimulating visual art and visual art appreciation in the Natchez  (Miss-Lou) area through art education and practice of art.  Its primary focus is visual arts community outreach programs for people of all ages, workshops, exhibits, demonstrations and promotion of local and regional visual artists.

Activities

We strive to bring a greater visual arts presence to Natchez and the surrounding region through interactive art opportunities.  You can find one of these opportunities at our local monthly art fair, Art on the Bluff, which is held the 2nd Saturday of the Month (March - December).  This art fair features a number of free public painting areas where anyone of any age can engage in watercolor painting.

We currently produce a High School Art Exhibit which allows the young artists in our region the opportunity to participate in an adult style exhibit.  Students submit an application and a single artwork to a jury that in turn reviews the application and and awards 1st, 2nd, 3rd, place awards in addition to honorable mention awards.  Most often these awards include monetary awards given to the student.  We hope that in the future we will have the opportunity to provide a scholarship to the winning student which will go towards the cost of their college education.

Our long term goals include opening a Visual Arts Center which will serve the community in eduction of all types of visual arts and fine craft techniques.  We hope to develop Art Workshop Tours encouraging professional artists to spend a relaxing vacation in Natchez and visit locations which are visually appealing to the painter for onsite painting opportunities.  We also hope to take our workshops and demonstrations to the local and regional schools where we may have the opportunity to enlighten our youth and give that spark of interest that will encourage a lifetime of artful living.
